Dr. Melanie Nguyen, an Orange County native, graduated in 2008 from California State University of Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology. She then earned a secondary Bachelor of Science Degree in Vision Science from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she graduated in 2012. Dr. Nguyen earned a Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2013. She also obtained her Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent Certification and is qualified to treat glaucoma.
Dr. Nguyen received extensive training in various areas of focus during her Ocular Disease Residency Program at Seidenberg-Protzko Eye Associates in Maryland. The training includes glaucoma, retina, cornea, neurology, pediatric eye care, refractive surgery, as well as preoperative and postoperative surgical care. In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with her son, learning about photography, cooking, baking, gardening, and playing board games with her family.
